India Background Information

India is ranked second in total population in the world. It is estimated that 400 million of India’s nearly 1.1 billion people are children under the age of 18.14 Unfortunately, over 2 million Indian children under the age of five die each year, and water-related illnesses are one of the leading causes of childhood deaths. If advances are made in access to clean water, latrines, and making changes in hygiene behavior, India could make a huge impact on child health worldwide.
