University of Washington Forms Water 1st Chapter
In April, University of Washington students formed the Water 1st–UW Chapter. Members of the chapter will engage in educational outreach events, primarily to K–12 schools, to support Water 1st’s mission of providing safe drinking water to the world’s poor. Founding Officers are: Nimisha Roy, Jisun Lee, Emily Reus, Anne Buher, and Kate Selting. University of Washington students gave a Water 1st presentation to the 5th grade class at Adams Elementary School in Seattle. Students learned about the water crisis and Water 1st’s approach, and then made block prints, depicting ‘before and after’ scenes of communities without water and communities with a water project.
