Montlake Elementary Donates $600 to Water 1stSeattle’s Montlake Elementary was one of hundreds of schools across the United States that participated in "Penny Harvest," a program that engages students in raising money for charities by collecting pennies at their school. Fourth and fifth–grade students are then chosen to serve on the Penny Harvest Student Board. These students research local non-profits, interview the organizations, and then decide how much to grant the organizations they have chosen. This year, students at Montlake Elementary raised $1,200 through their Penny Harvest fund drive. They interviewed multiple organizations and chose four to support, one being Water 1st International. At an assembly on June 6, Montlake students presented Water 1st with a check for $600. Thank you, Montlake, for your support of people in need of safe water! |
