Walk 4 Water in Wellesley, Massachusetts Raises $10,000

On Saturday, May 10, nearly 90 walkers gathered at the Wellesley Hills Congregational Church of Wellesley, Massachusetts to participate in their first “Walk 4 Water” event, coordinated by Tory Lockberg, a high school junior, and Rev. Jim Brommers Bergquist. Walkers ranged from 2 to 72 years old. After a light breakfast, the group watched a DVD from Water 1st that introduced them to some of the real water walkers of the world.

Wellesley Hills Congregational Church exceeded its ambitious goal of raising $10,000 for safe water. Water 1st will use the funds to build two water points, one in Ethiopia and one in India, serving hundreds of people. Thank you so much, Wellesley Hills, for your concern for the world's poorest and the generous donation that was the product of your determination to do something about the world water crisis. The 2nd Annual Walk 4 Water in Wellesley will be in May 2009.
