On behalf of all of us at Water 1st, thank you to everyone who participated in the Sixth Annual Give Water Give Life Benefit on November 13. The Washington State Convention Center ballroom in downtown Seattle was packed with 700 people in support of our work to help end the cycle of poverty and death in poor communities through sustainable safe water and sanitation systems.
Together, we raised a record $545,000! Thanks to all of our donors, corporate sponsors, in-kind donors, and volunteers whose generous contributions will help bring clean water to more than 10,000 people living in Ethiopia, India, Bangladesh, and Honduras. A special thanks to the generous group of Water 1st supporters who matched all donations $500 and above.
Event Chairs Margie Duckstad and Kevin Coluccio welcomed guests and thanked attendees for their support. Water 1st Executive Director Marla Smith-Nilson then presented the 2010 Water Ambassador award to Pat Kennedy and Melissa Ries.

Water Ambassador Award
Pat Kennedy and Melissa Ries were presented with the fourth annual Water Ambassador award by Water 1st, in honor of their commitment to supporting people in need of safe water.
Marla talked about Melissa and Pat's support of Water 1st from day one. "Pat and Melissa's early faith in us and their providing seed money as part of our Founders' Circle gave life to Water 1st, and their steadfast, generous contributions and valuable connections have allowed us to continue growing. In just five years, Water 1st has grown from an initial mailing list of 200 people to nearly 5,000 supporters who have raised more than $4 million to support the implementation of 350 projects benefitting 45,000 people in four countries."
