The Give Water • Give Life Benefit, our premier fundraising event of the year, will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2009, in Seattle.

With more than 600 guests in attendance, last year’s event raised a record $489,000 for sustainable water supply, sanitation, and health education projects for communities in India, Bangladesh, Honduras, and Ethiopia.

450 people Walk for Water at CARRY 5, raising $38,000

Our 2nd annual CARRY 5 event was a great success. Over 450 children, adults, schools, businesses, and clubs were able to gain a first-hand understanding of the true burden of gathering water, and raise money to help end this long walk for so many around the world.

The event was held at Seattle’s Seward Park on Saturday, May 30th. Individual and team participants tried to carry 5 gallons of water for 5 kilometers along Lake Washington Blvd, the average walk made by people in poor countries who lack access to safe, convenient water supplies.

Water 1st currently has projects in need of funding in some of the poorest regions of the world – the urban slums of Dhaka, Bangladesh; The Sunderbans in West Bengal, India; the community of Chimisal in the Southern Lempira District of Honduras; and the community of Gonbisa Kussaye in the Oromia Region of Ethiopia.
