Therese Hansen is a partner at the law firm of Soha & Lang, P.S., in Seattle, Washington where she focuses primarily on civil/commercial litigation and environmental actions arising from Superfund/CERCLA toxic cleanup regulations. Ms. Hansen has served as board member, vice president and president of the King County, Washington Women Lawyers. As an integral member of the League of Women Voters (Seattle Chapter) since 1990, she has held positions on the League’s Board, the Action Committee, the Education Fund Board, the Ballot Simplification Project, and chaired the Healthcare and Micro-lending Committee. Additionally, she was the League’s delegate to the Fourth U.N. Conference on Women in Beijing, China in 1995. She has a history of working with inner-city neighborhoods, minority business revitalization, the Seattle Public School system, and environmental and preservation projects.

Ms. Hansen is married to Congressman Jim McDermott. She has traveled in several African countries; in the Middle East with the Physicians for Social Responsibility; in India on several occasions, including with the Seattle Trade Development Alliance; and, she joined the 2003 and 2005 congressional delegations to South Africa, Chad and Sudan.
