Kanchan is originally from West Bengal and lived in all parts of India. Kanchan has more than 25 years of business experience as a designer and importer in the field of hand-woven textiles from India. As a young girl, she was fascinated with the idea of creating a global marketplace for products woven in small villages in India. She founded, grew, and sold Design Imports India, then started Mango Imports 13 year ago. The Seattle-based business specializes in unique, affordable home textiles, hand-woven in the remote villages of India. Kanchan has been active with several non-profit organizations and international philanthropy for many years. She received the CARE international agency “northwest humanitarian award” for micro-lending work in villages in India. The name Kanchan is derived from the third highest mountain in the world, Kanchenjunga, in the Himalayas. |
